Humble beginning

Kevutu was originally founded in August 2007 by Joey Montambeault. At first, Kevutu was a place where Joey could store and catalog his wants because he kept forgetting about them! So he began developing the website in his spare time adding modules here and there. However, during this time, Joey began wondering if other people would find the website helpful.

Inspiring himself from other social websites on the Web, Joey began building Kevutu so that it could host a large user community. Anyone who joined the website could start cataloging and sharing their wants. However, Joey wanted the website to be faithful to its roots so he structured the way wants would be entered into the website. People who did not wish to share their wants with the community could keep them private. Others could choose to only share them with friends and outgoing types could share their wants with the entire website and obtain feedback.

The team grows

Around March 2008, Joey started realizing that Kevutu would be a lot bigger than originally planned. He recruited a good friend to help him finalize the website. In April 2008, Jayson Bellemare officially joined the team and the website grew to two developers. Jayson had a rich background in web development and had originally worked with Joey on a website in the late nineties. Since then, he has continued working and developing websites as a career path.

With the site almost ready, Kevutu was ready to be launched to the general public. To help with this task, Jonathan Rousseau was recruited to help introduce the website to the people of Quebec. Having lived across the entire province, he brought the range and the expertise to help Kevutu expand and connect with the people from Quebec.

Kevutu officially launched

During the summer of 2008, a big push was made to finalize Kevutu. Countless hours were poured into development and graphic design resulting in the website you see today. The website was officially launched on September 23, 2008. Hopefully, it proves to be as useful to you as it has been to us. Happy Kevutuing!
